Ribbon falls in Yosemite Valley (May 2005)
Ribbon falls (only in early summer)
Most of the waterfalls in the valley dry up late in the summer.
Bridalveil falls runs year-round, but the water becomes almost a
trickle. The Yosemite falls dries out almost completely. One labor
day weekend, I walked up almost to the mouth the waterfalls. The rock
was extremely slippery and the stream falling over was only a foott
wide.
The vernal and nevada falls always have water, but the quantity
is drastically low. It is still extremely beautiful in the valley,
but it is really remarkable in early summer.
