Mist trail offers one of the most beautiful hike in Yosemite. It is extremely crowded. You get to see the Vernal Falls up close, and be soaked with cold mist. The trail opens late in spring and is quite strenuous beyond the first footbridge (1 mile from the trailhead). The trail is also slippery and is almost flooded with water. Continue up along the trail to the top of Vernal Falls and beyond. You will see the beautiful Emerald Pool and the Silver Apron.

Early summer, there is a plenty of water on Merced river. Emerald Pool and Silver Apron are not beautiful but there will remain an astonishment over the water's speed along a smooth slope. In mid-summer, you get to see some "waterwheels" as the water hits some rocks along the smooth slope. Water hits a pool slower and it becomes clear why it is named so.
